It may be of interest to you to hear that the coxswain

of our lighter "PO KOI" reports that while on his way to Wuchow in tow of S/L "Sang Lee" they were fired on by pirates in the neighbour- hood of Suilam. The affair happened at 1 a.m. on the morning of the 8th. instant, three or four shots being fired. No harm was done and the launch did not slacken speed. The matter was reported by the coxswain to the Chinese guard boat at Suilam the same morning.
